After the first details about the Hyundai Tucson coming to India leaked out in August, theTimes of India now reports that dealers in Mumbai have already begun to accept bookings of the SUV even before its official launch in India. Dealers have started accepting bookings for an upfront payment of Rs 25,000 with the launch date in India set for 24 October.
The new Hyundai Tucson features a fresh new look will comfortably fill in the gap between the two, with the Santa Fe at the higher end and Creta at the lower end.
As for the specifications of the next-generation Tucson, the new model is expected to arrive in both diesel and a petrol variants. According to Zigwheels, the engine that powers the new Tucson will come from the Elantra sedan itself which produces 152PS of power and 192Nm of torque.
For the transmission, owners will have the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is expected to be tweaked while the mated gearbox will also feature revised gear ratios that should match the requirements of an SUV. Diesel buyers can expect a 2.0-litre engine that offers 185PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The same is expected to arrive with an automatic transmission.
Hyundai recently launched its Creta 1st Anniversary Edition back in the month of August. Soon enough Hyundai India announced that it plans to launch 4 SUVs in coming years to keep up with fast-growing segment and now we have the next-generation Hyundai Tucson SUV ready just in time for the festive season. Not much is known about the price of the Tucson, but expect it to be priced between Rs 20-25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
