Microsoft’s 26 Oct event to debut AIO Surface PC, may skip refreshed Surface Pro and Surface Book

Microsoft has begun sending invites for its 26 October event that will see the debut of new Surface hardware, Windows 10 update and some Xbox-related announcement. The event will be held in New York at 10 AM ET (7:30 PM IST)
If reports are to be believed then it won’t really be a big event. Among some other announcements, a leaked Surface-branded Keyboard and mouse comes to the forefront. Although we will see the debut of the long rumoured All-in-One-PC, a new report byTheVerge, citing sources related to the matter, adds that the company may skip the refreshed Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book at the event. Instead, it will choose to showcase laptops and devices built by OEMs. Now we wonder what all the teasing with Instagram image of the Surface Book hinge was about.
The report further adds that the key highlight of the event is the “unveiling of Microsoft’s vision for the future of Windows 10” that comes with its plans for two big updates coming next year. Moreover, the company reportedly plans to discuss the features it plans for the gaming industry with its Xbox gaming strategy across platforms.
Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet recently said that the new Surface device, dubbed Cardinal, is on its way, which is speculated to be the Surface AIO. However, there is no word yet on whether that’s the internal code name or the product name. Meanwhile, Microsoft has confirmed that the company won’t be releasing a Band 3 this year. There is also wide speculation over the company’s plans to kill the Band lineup.
