WhatsApp has started releasing rapid feature additions to the beta version of the app for iOS and Android. After adding the ability to revoke the messages as reported almost a week back, the company added the ability to edit the sent messages. The company is now working on improved privacy options to give users more control over who can see their status updates. The current status update feature is set to undergo a major revamp with the introduction of new Snapchat like status updates.

WhatsApp also hinted at a file ‘Preview’ feature which will allow users to preview the contents of files, presumably compressed .zip file, text file or PDF‘s. This may coincide with the launch of ability to send files and full resolution images using the app. These features are important productivity addons to the core WhatsApp functionality and important if the company is planning to make it popular among business or enterprise users.
It was rumoured that the company may be working on a separate app for Business users called “WhatsApp for Business” but it could not be verified by an official source. Even though the Business functionality hinted so far is limited to Businesses interacting with consumers for services or products but it may very well include intra-enterprise usage scenarios. Such functionality will propel the casual ‘Multimedia messaging app” to the coroporate communication tool just like Office 365 or Skype.
