ASUS sends out media invites for ZenFone 4 unveiling on 19 August

ASUS has started sending invites to media houses for the unveiling of the ZenFone 4. The images for the invite showed up in the official ASUS forums, but since then have been pulled down. The invitation hints at one feature very strongly, that of dual cameras. ASUS has silently launched the ASUS ZenFone 4 Max in Russia, which is the first device in the ZenFone 4 lineup. The device that is to be launched in 19 August is expected to be similar to the ZenFone 4 Max.

The first time a reference to the ASUS ZenFone 4 series was spotted was on a database listing in ASUS’s Royal Club "Online Booking System." The ZenFone 4 Max in Russia is priced at 13,900 Rubles (around Rs 14,079) and is juiced by a 5,000 mAh battery. The device also sports two dual rear cameras, a feature that is likely to see its way to the ASUS ZenFone 4. The ASUS ZenFone 4 Max is available with two processors options, one model has a Snapdragon 430 and another the Snapdragon 425.
According to SlashGear, the device may have additional software to support the camera, since this feature is highlighted so much in the invites. According to The Verge, the device may be identical to the ASUS ZenFone 4 Max launched in the Russian market.
The news comes close on the heels of the launch of the ZenFone AR. After the rollout of GST, ASUS reduced the prices of many devices in its lineup. The ASUS ZenFone 4 series is expected to be priced in the mid range segment. The ZenFone 4 will follow up the ZenFone 3 released last year. While the phone had premium looks and display, it faced tough competition from online vendors of Chinese smartphones. However, ASUS has a strong network of offline distributors across India.
