After a car plowed into a crowd of people peacefully protesting a white nationalist rally on Saturday in a Virginia college town, killing three persons, a Twitter user started a campaign to name and shame those involved with the racist and hate-fuelled demonstrations in Charlottesville.
The user, who goes by the Twitter handle @YesYoureRacist, puts up pictures of "Unite The Right" protesters and identifies them with the help of his 2,41,000 followers.
This has already resulted in the firing of one protester from California. Cole White was axed from his restaurant position in Berkeley on Sunday just hours after being publicly identified on the Twitter profile.
White, who worked for the restaurant chain Top Dog, was the first person that the Twitter user exposed after the rally. His employers replied to the tweet thanking 'Yes, You're Racist' for "bringing this to their attention", and added that it was imperative to note that White is no longer employed by them.
"The actions of those in Charlottesville are not supported by Top Dog," the restaurant said, in a statement stuck outside their Berkeley location on Sunday. "We believe in individual freedom, and voluntary association for everyone," they added.
@YesYoureRacist did not stop after getting White fired. He continues to expose more people at that rally.
