The new smartphone to be launched by the company features Free From Display (FFD) technology that enables the manufacturer to make holes into the screen of the smartphone, increasing the screen space on the device. The technology will take the screen-to-body ratio of the SHARP AQUOS S2 to 84.95 percent. According to the company the smartphone enabled by the FFD technology will bring front camera and receiver under the screen of the device.
It must be noted that the Mi Mix has a screen-to-body ratio of around 90 percent.
“The core of full screen design is to break through the technology limit, achieve the double sense of holding and visual comfort, and provide the ultimate experience for users.” said Dr. Luo Zhongsheng, CEO of SHARP/InFocus Mobile.
Sharp has not released any other specifications of the smartphone apart from stating that it has a 5.5-inch bezel-less screen. Consumers will have to wait for the official launch of the device to know more about the smartphone.
Sharp claims to have launched the world's first 'full screen' phone in 2013. The phone EDGEST-302SH by Sharp had 80.5 percent screen-to-body ratio with ultra-slim bezels from three sides. The smartphone company is also credited to bring world's first mobile phone with built-in camera.
