Xiaomi launched the Mi 5X in China last month at a price of 1499 Yuan (approximately Rs 14,285) for a version running 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. A few weeks later, Xiaomi has gone on to launch a cheaper variant of the Mi 5X with 32 GB of storage but identical specifications.
Xiaomi India Vice President and Chief Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain in a recent report mentioned that Xiaomi fans could soon expect the company to release its first dual-camera phone in India, come September. This clearly points to the possible introduction of the 32 GB Mi 5X in the Indian market. The Mi 5X 32 GB is priced at 1299 Yuan (approximately Rs 12,500).
The Mi 5X is touted the 'mini Mi 6' in China owing to similar dual-camera optics as the Mi 6. The camera setup on the Mi 5X includes a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor with a f/2.2 aperture and the other a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with f/2.6 aperture.The 5-megapixel front camera comes included with a real-time beautification feature.
In terms of basic specifications, the phone features a 5.5-inch full-HD LTPS display and first device by Xiaomi to run its MIUI 9 out-of-the-box, based on Android Nougat 7.0 . The processor on the 5X is an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM. Despite being offered in the two storage variants Xiaomi has also added support for storage expansion up to 128 GB via microSD card.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X packs a 3080 mAh battery and comes in three colour variants — Black, Gold and Rose Gold.The company also claims that the 5X delivers a superior audio output with DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm and a standalone audio amplifier via headphones.
In terms of connectivity the phone supports 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port.
