Secretary Pompeo met today with Burmese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Kyaw Tin in Singapore on the margins of the ASEAN-centered ministerial. They discussed ongoing efforts to implement democratic reforms in Burma, seek peace and national reconciliation, and to create suitable conditions for the return of Rohingya refugees, including ensuring accountability for human rights abuses and implementing the recommendations of the Advisory Commission on Rakhine State. The Secretary urged the Government of Burma to release two jailed Reuters reporters and protect freedom of the press.
