Assistant Secretary for Economic and Business Affairs Manisha Singh will travel to Brussels and Jerusalem October 18-22.
In Brussels, the Assistant Secretary will attend the Privacy Shield annual review. President Trump has appointed Assistant Secretary Singh to perform the duties of the Office of the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, including those of the Privacy Shield Ombudsperson. Privacy Shield is a framework which provides companies on both sides of the Atlantic with a mechanism to comply with data protection requirements when transferring personal data in support of transatlantic commerce.
On October 21, Assistant Secretary Singh will conduct bilateral meetings in Tel Aviv. On October 22, she will participate in the 33rd U.S.-Israel Joint Economic Development Group (JEDG) session in Jerusalem. The JEDG, which has met since 1985, is our premier annual economic dialogue with the Government of Israel.
