Secretary Michael R. Pompeo met with Slovenian Foreign Minister Miro Cerar today. They discussed U.S.-Slovenian bilateral relations, NATO defense spending, and foreign investment. They also discussed global affairs, including Iran’s ballistic missile program; advancing the final fully verified denuclearization of North Korea; and the importance of maintaining sanctions on Russia. They agreed on the need to ensure that the Western Balkans have a continued path to Western integration and the importance of regional efforts to strengthen energy security.
