Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo met with Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo yesterday at the State Department. During the meeting, the two reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.‑Colombian bilateral relationship. Both leaders also expressed strong support for Venezuela’s interim President Juan Guaido and committed to expanding diplomatic efforts in support of the Venezuelan people as they work to restore their democracy. They reiterated their commitment to continue helping the many Venezuelans fleeing to Colombia and other countries throughout the region.
