Good Saturday morning, and welcome to a special edition of the DealBook Briefing where we’re following the news from Berkshire Hathaway’s annual investor meeting.
Welcome to the ‘Woodstock for Capitalists’

It’s that time of year again when Omaha, Neb., becomes the center of capitalism for a weekend.

Tens of thousands of shareholders from around the globe will fill Omaha’s CHI Health Center (formerly called the CenturyLink) on Saturday for the annual meeting of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway.

Over the decades, the meeting has grown from a small gathering in the cafeteria of National Indemnity into a weekend-long event also known as “Woodstock for Capitalists.”

There is a cocktail reception, a 5-kilometer run and shopping, lots of shopping. The exhibition hall of the CHI Health Center will be devoted to exhibits from Berkshire’s businesses, including Fruit of the Loom, Dairy Queen, See’s Candies, Benjamin Moore and Brooks Running Company.
