Google’s popular keyboard app, Gboard, has some new features up its sleeves on its iOS app. According to Google the newest additions for the Gboard iPhone app include access to Maps and YouTube thereby making it easier to share location as well as video content in any messaging app.
Tapping the G button on the Gboard app will now show tabs for Search, YouTube and Maps. If you want to share your current location, you just have to hit the G button and then select the Maps tab. This saves the process of selecting the address, copying it and pasting it back in the Gboard app.
Similarly, to share a YouTube video, you need to hit the G button followed by the YouTube tab which will let you search and send YouTube video links.
In both cases, the results are displayed in a card-style carousel which can be swiped horizontally below the search bar. You will just need to tap on the video or map you want to send. The results can be added in any messaging app such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram among others.
Gboard has also added a new Ink feature for the doodlers and artists out there. To access it, you will need to hit the emoji button, followed by the pen icon. This will open up a blank screen for you to doodle your creations. It is somewhat similar to the feature already seen on iMessages.
Recently, Gboard for Android added a drawing feature for emojis. This lets you draw emojis which Gboard recognises and returns matching emojis. While this may not be practical if you want to select simple smiley emojis, but can work well if you want to say select a cat emoji.
In addition to this, Gboard now supports Farsi, Arabic and Hebrew as well. Recently, Google had announced support for 22 Indic languages on Gboard for Android.
These new features have been added to the latest Gboard app for the iPhone.
