On April 11, the U.S. Department of State hosted senior members of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and a number of OPCW Executive Council representatives. The discussion focused on key U.S. policy priorities relevant to chemical weapons and reinforced our demonstrated and measurable progress towards the complete destruction of our chemical weapons stockpile, in a safe, quick, and practicable manner.

The discussion was led by Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security Andrea Thompson, with perspectives from Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance Dr. Yleem Poblete, and the Senior Director for Weapons of Mass Destruction and Counterproliferation at the National Security Council, Tim Morrison. Other U.S. participants included the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration, Matthew S. Borman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Threat Reduction and Arms Control, Dr. Charles Ball, and U.S. Representative to the OPCW Ambassador Kenneth Ward.
