Next Apple iPhone SE likely to be launched in Q1 2018; Wistron looking to expand production lines

If rumours are to be believed then it seems likely that the second iteration of the iPhone SE will hit the market in Q1 next year.
Wistron Corp, the Taiwan based contractor, assembling the iPhone SE is looking towards expanding in India and is in talks with the Karnataka government.
iPhone SE. Apple.
iPhone SE. Apple.
A Taiwanese news channel, Focus Taiwan, said that the US tech giant is looking at increasing its market share in India. With a focus on increasing its capacity in India it intends to double or triple its sales in the coming five years.
The rumored specifications point to a 4-inch or 4.2-inch display, Apple A10 processor, iOS 11 out of the box, storage options of 32 GB and 128 GB, 1700 mAh battery capacity. The final specifications could be different though as there is no confirmation about this.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook, when addressing investors while announcing the third quarter results mentioned that he was very optimistic about India.
"We are investing in India...And we began to produce the iPhone SE there during the quarter, and we're really happy with how that's going. And so we're bringing all of our energies to bear there," said Cook. This gives more hints to the speculation that Apple maybe thinking of ramping up its iPhone SE production in India.
Moreover, the new iPhone SE is expected to be less expensive than the previous models. The iPhone SE which was released in March last year, came with a 12 MP autofocus camera, a 4-inch retina display, housed the Apple A9 chipset along with an embedded M9 motion co-processor. The 16 GB variant of the iPhone SE was priced at Rs 39,900 at launch. Considering Apple is now making the iPhone SE in India, one should expect some price benefits.
According to Focus Taiwan, the next generation of iPhone SE will first be shipped in the Indian market first and then other global markets.
